Books

I have recently had the opportunity to move into a new apartment of my own and I have faced the problem of decorating it, buying new furniture etc. The only thing I brought to my new place were my books. I love them. I think it is wonderful that no matter where we go, no matter how new and modern our homes are, books always bring some kind of emotion, a piece of history with them. That is why I find it very interesting how people manage to display their book collection. I, myself, didn't want any furniture in my new bedroom, except for a bed and therefore my books are now piled on the floor. I used to like it this way, but I needed to organize them and I designed a bookshelf, a very simple one. I promise to show you pictures as soon as it is ready.

I spent some time looking at different homes, trying to find some inspiration. And I did. My question to you is "How do you store your books?"

Is your whole wall covered with books?


Or you have a fancy bookshelf:


Do you just throw them in some corner?


Or you use them as a decoration?


Do you put them on the floor?


Perhaps you store them under the stairs?


Or on them?


Do you have a cozy place where you can sit with a book in hands?


Or entire rooms?


Do you form spaces with them?


Or they are all over the place?


Are they organized near your bed?


Or around the doors and windows?



Is your nightstand a pile of books itself?


Do you put them on the table?



Do you store them in the fireplace?


Perhaps you use them as a place to sit on?

Paper Cranes

Isn't this absolutely beautiful? I love it! It is from The Selby. I read about it at Oh Joy!

I had a very similar idea about a month ago. I made a few paper cranes and put them on strings. The project is still hanging unfinished, but this photo really inspired me to do more paper cranes and finish it:)

It is almost midnight over here. So I am heading to bed! Tomorrow is going to be a long day - back to the university! I didn't really do anything today, time just flew by so quickly... I hate it when it happens this way, but eh.. tomorrow is a new day!

My Art

Being an architecture student helps you learn a lot about famous buildings. These are Italian palazzos and churches, build during the Renaissance and Baroque. All of the drawings are exact copies of the facades, a result of a careful study of the buildings, the architects and the period during which they were built.
Drawn by hand, white drawing ink on prussian blue cardboard. (the colours do not appear in this photo, as it is monochrome)

I am usually not the biggest fan of jewelry, but this is so much more! I am totally in love with this collection and I am going to have a big time deciding on which one I want to purchase. There is something for every piece of me (and I believe you too) - funny things like "Cats aren't clean, they're just covered with cat spit", beautiful initials, pictures and collages or more intimate and sentimental words..
All the collages are made by hand, using antique photographs along with vintage ephemera. They are printed with archival inks on professional artist's paper and covered with glass. Each is then framed with silver solder, which the artist makes herself. Sounds wonderful, doesn't it?

This is the best campaign I have ever seen in my life! The photographer is pure genius and the result is 100% beauty. Those photographs look so strong and feminine, very vintage and absolutely gorgeous. The clothes, the hair, the place, the light, each detail is amazing.

Umbrella

A friend of mine once said "Everything, no matter what it is, in large quantity is considered interesting." And I think he's right. I mean, look at this, only umbrellas, we all have ones but we don't all have a hundred of them..
