I have been admiring good calligraphy lately, but I have never tried it (well, except for a little bit the first year at the university). That's until I found this lovely video yesterday. I have been looking for a nice calligraphy stamp to personalize some stationery, but I didn't find exactly what I wanted so I decided I could make my own :) Here is my first try, I hope to get better after some experience.

I haven't really had the time to create much things lately, aside for my projects for uni, but I really wanted to share something I've done, so here are a few of the pictures I took last summer while I was in England. Me and my boyfriend stayed in London, but also went to Cambridge. Although I found London really loud and busy, I truly enjoyed the serene atmosphere in Cambridge. In the end I really didn't want to leave :)

All the pictures are from Cambridge, taken by me. You can see more here

I always admire a smart, neat and creative idea for a product. That is why I just had to share this pretty notebook set by Burak Kaynak, which I saw at Twig and Thistle! It consists of 12 numbered separate notebooks - one for each month. They are all packaged together and are called Sliced Bread/Notebook. Someone pass me the cream cheese please?

Thanks to everyone who wished me good luck on my project today!:) It went well, I still don't know my mark, as it will take them a while to go through all of our projects and make up their minds, but the teachers loved my sketch (shown above) and well, that's enough for me, because I was pretty insecure with the new technique I used :)

The task was to create a recreational area around a small river in the centre of the city, which is surrounded by very busy traffic. My concept was to make it a nice place for young people with artistic abilities, so I created zones with sculptural exhibition and graffiti drawing. I also added some "green" barriers for insulation from the noise and pollution from the street, as well as for a much comfortable stay. That's only a small part of my concept (the project was around 40 pages size A3 long).

Well, that's it - I am exhausted now! I have a test at economics tomorrow (wish me luck!) and my bf spend two hours trying to explain the basic theories to me :) Let's hope I remembered something!

Off to bed now. Have to wake up at 5 or 6 in the morning to finish my 3D model of a small museum I'm designing for uni. Whew! :)

Sofia Coppola's Paris

Paris is a place I have never been to, but definitely one I would love to visit! In my head Paris is like a dream. I always enjoy reading about places I want to visit, seeing pictures from there. Therefore you can probably understand my excitement when I found this article yesterday at Mocking Bird.

One of my all time favorite commercials is this one, directed by Sofia Coppola:

I really love it and I guess I'll have to see more movies by her. If you have any recommendations please share.

p.s. I have a project which is due tomorrow, so wish me luck! :)

A little Help needed

Some new clothes for the summer are badly needed and as my boyfriend is going to England in a week I asked him to get some things for me while he is staying. I came across this shop called La Redoute (it is supposed to be and English shop, which sells clothes made in France). I wanted to ask if any of you guys is familiar to this shop and whether you are pleased with the clothes. Most of them are really cheap and the strange thing is I really liked a lot of items from their online shop ( this never happens to me!! usually an item or two..). As I won't be there to see the clothes for real I was wondering if what is shown in their website is accurate enough to what you get. I have had some bad experience with online shopping recently.
Thank you for your help in advance! :)

p.s. I just saw they have a £40 discount for your first order of £100 or more

Hello everyone! It is a busy week over here, but there is just a little more and I'll be done with the university for this year! :)

I just wanted to share a few lovely things I found last week. Christa Baca from Baca Creative is making some great stuff and you are free to download and print them yourself. You should totally go check them out! I use her "to do" lists every day, they are just so cute and practical and they really help me stay organized with all the stuff I have to do daily!

And finally, last weekend she dared us all to ivite our bfs out by giving them this super cute invitation :) How fun is this! :)

Well, that's about it for now. How is your week going?:)

Happy Birthday!

Recently I realize how crazy about light I am, especially the morning light that gets in my bedroom, plays with the shapes and makes the most beautiful patterns..
I got a flickr pro account yesterday as a gift from my boyfriend (he has a birthday today, so Happy Birthday, baby!) We are celebrating tomorrow and we have tickets to the circus on Sunday :) I am so excited, it is going to be a lovely weekend!

Have a great weekend you all!

My new obsession

I am usually not a big fan of Starbucks. I prefer a small local cafe, that doesn't look the same as the one next to it. BUT that's until I tried Dark Berry Mocha last week! I think I am obsessed :)

For EDM #161: Draw something you think smells wonderful
I love the smell of coffee, LOVE! I like it better than the taste even.. I tend to hold the cup and smell it all the time while having coffee :) Some find it weird, but they think it is ever weirder that I drink it cold. I don't mean frappuccino, but getting regular coffee, waiting for it to get cold and then drinking it.

Oh and here is a shot I took of the cupcakes I drew a while ago, but didn't like how the colour of the scan turned out. I think they are suitable for the challenge as well, don't you? :)

How do you guys like to drink your coffee?

Bulgarian Design

While going through this month's magazines I usually buy, I came across the Bulgarian designer Mirko Tattarini. He is a professor at Instituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche (ISIA) and designed the first ever product for Design Appart. Inspired by the Bulgarian design of the second half of the twentieth century, with a particular focus on the Soviet period, he created the Bansko Boo seating collection. The materials he uses are plywood, chromed steel (for the legs) and different fabrics for the cushions.

Bansko Boo armchair and ottoman are available in natural linen, grey velvet corduroy, grey with stripes in eco-leather and orange with stripes in eco-leather. The armchair is meant to be matched with the carpets of the KASH lines, which are attached to the seats for a flexible integration suitable for an unconstrained, informal use.

The Bansko Boo chair's design is inspired by the repetition of boomerangs and can be completed with a fabric cushion for more sitting comfort.

I have been pretty productive these days :)) I guess I will have to step away from my watercolours for a while, because there is so little time until the semester is over and there are so many things to do..

My Favorite Tool(s)

I try out new things very often and my favorite tools change a lot as well. I used to prefer pencils, but then I started using tempera and currently - watercolours. I also love using china ink.

Terrace and Plants

Since it is officially spring and it is warm enough to spend more time outside, I decided to make my never used until now terrace a more pleasant place. I got a lovely wooden chair and a little table, which I need to polish. I am still looking for more flowers to plant - I want really many, many flowers :) I guess living in a house with a garden all my life has made me used to being near plants and I somehow miss them in my tiny apartment. I am thinking of roses and hydrangeas.
I need to get more pots like this one, but I also need to add something that will keep them from falling over someone's head on the street:)

I found these two lovely pots in my parent's yard. Can you believe they were totally discarded? I absolutely love them!

I also filled this small wooden barrel with some plants. I need to get some more, so I haven't planted them yet. The inspiration came from Geninne. She also has a blog, you should totally check it - so full of inspiration!

Rainy Day

This is my little paining I did today for Inspire me Thursday and EDM #217 (which by the way is my first, yay). It has actually been raining all day long today and I love it :)
I am at my parents' house for the weekend and unfortunately I don't have a scanner around here. So I took a picture instead.
