Life and some news

How is everyone? We are having a lovely weather over here but I've been quite busy with projects. I do have some exciting news though. Last month I sent one of my projects to enter a competition organized by The Home magazine and I came second! (Actually the email said second but from their website it looked like I'm third, so I'm not quite sure) I went to their office yesterday to pick up my prize and everyone was so sweet! I'm happy and now I need to concentrate on my projects even more because I am still behind thanks to my stupid allergy. But oh well, good and bad things come hand in hand don't they?

The photo above is of the most beautiful Japanese trees I've seen! There is a whole bunch of them and I walk by them every day. Spring, I love you!

I apologize in advance if I don't get to post as often as I'd like to but I am doing my best, I hope you forgive me hehe.

Etsy Love

Hand assembled detailed replica of the Eiffel tower made of cardboard for just $50? I so want this, no - I so need this! Wouldn't it be nice to have it at your desk, or perhaps you'd prefer a meter long handmade Brooklyn bridge? I guess my love for architecture has just spoken. If you share my love though, be sure to check Paperlandmarks' Etsy shop.

Beautiful Morning

It's my first day at the uni today since Easter so I decided to make my morning more wonderful. Luckily the weather is on my side and after a few days of rain and cold it is now lovely outside. I am having milk and Truffles au Chocolat that I made yesterday following this recipe (remember yesterday's post?) These turned out lovely and they weren't too hard to make too.

This weekend I found a lovely store over here called Home decoration & gifts and I am just in love with it! It offers things in the style of Anthropologie only way, way cheaper. I got this mug and the bowl for just 10 leva (€5 or $7)! I had such a big smile on my face going out of it. You can find it in Serdika Center and there is another one on Vasil Levski Str. Unfortunately they don't have a website but it is worth taking the time to go there.

Have a wonderful day, dear friends! xo

Inspiration: Tartelette

I have quite a few contacts on flickr who take the best food styling photos. And since they inspired me so much to even try it myself I thought if I share them with you they might inspire you as well. Here is tartelette. Enjoy and prepare your napkins because my, will these photos make you hungry!

Aren't these gorgeous? And I can bet - delicious too! The best part is tartelette also has a blog where you can find all the recipes for these wonderful meals. She was also featured on Top 50 Food Blogs according to Times and is also teaching food photography.

p.s. Here are a few tips and behind the scenes from this talented lady. I highly recommend taking a look if you are into styling your own photos.

It is Monday again. I figured I'd share a recipe today to start off the week with something easy and delicious to keep you going through the whole week. I've been on a diet recently because of my allergy and because of it I am spending a lot of time in the kitchen making up recipes, some of them successful, others not so much but this one is my favourite so far. I hope you like it too!

Let me know if you try it and have a lovely week! xo

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday, dear friends! What are you planning to do this weekend? It is pretty cold over here but I hope that I'd be able to get out for the first time in over a week and also go see a movie (this one).

I got some lovely packaging goods that I ordered today and I can't wait to play with them! I'm not showing them to you because it's part of my secret project (hehe) but I promise you I'll let you know once I work out all the details. Deal?

And because it's Friday and we should be all relaxing or having fun instead of spending hours in front of the computer, I figured the best post for today is some quick eye-candy!

Lovely Home

We're having such gray weather today. I feel like it's fall all over again. But oh, well, at least the internet never fails to cheer me up.

I came across this beautiful home the other day. I was looking for apartments approximately as big as mine and trying to find some inspiration and well, mission accomplished! I really love how bright and cozy this place is, it is not hard to feel at home here.

The kitchen is just the cutest! I can eat breakfast there all day long, no seriously - I can!

Wednesday, April 14, 2010

Hello, friends! How is everyone? I am doing a lot better, I even managed to make dinner today. Apart from that I had a pretty lazy day, I didn't have electricity for a few hours so I spent the day in bed with a book and a pile of magazines that my boyfriend was sweet enough to bring me yesterday.

My mom was staying with me last week to help with my allergy and she brought this beautiful clock one day to cheer me up. It was so sweet, it reminded me of when I was little and I was sick (and I was sick all the time as a kid!) and she would bring me something small but pretty when she came back from work. My dad brought me the lilacs. They grow right outside my window at my parents' garden. Lilacs are my absolute favourite of all plants! They remind me of spring and my old room.

Do you have favourite plants/flowers? Something unusual perhaps?

More photos on my flickr.

Inspiration: Kate Mathis

I love the photography of Kate Mathis. Her photos are so beautifully styled and I really like the dark, rich colors. The photos I usually come across are bright and colorful but there is something deep about Kate's portfolio, don't you think?

Etsy Love: Ornamelle

It makes me very happy when I come across talented Bulgarians, especially around the blog world, etsy or flickr. You might think this is strange but interior design, making handmade stuff and other creative jobs are not as popular as they probably are where you live. Therefore I feel I should do my best to help and promote such people, especially when they are as talented as Masha.

I first saw her photos on flickr and I later found out that she runs a lovely Etsy shop called Ornamelle and a very inspiring blog.

The Ollyvia Fabric Baskets she makes are absolutely gorgeous! I love the lace detail and I can't wait to get one for myself! There are so many things I could use it for.

Lovely: Laura Ashley

Laura Ashley is one of the few companies that sell soft and feminine furniture and decorations in my country. I can't even begin to explain how much I dream of having Pottery Barn or Anthropologie over here because I really love their style. Well, this company is the next best thing.

Do you know any other companies like this in Europe? I'd be forever grateful!

Society6 & Urban Outfitters

I just joined Society6 the other day and I was amazed by the high quality of everyone's posts. It made me realize (once again) how many talented artists are out there. Luckily, Urban Outfitters have decided to promote some of them and they now sell gorgeous prints. These are some of my favourites.

Hedgehog Goes Rainbow by Joanne Liu

The prices are really good too. Did you find anything you can't live without? I really love the Way Up High print, I think it would look gorgeous surrounded with industrial design.

Sunday, April 11, 2010

Dear friends, how are you? I owe you a big apology for not being around for over a week. The truth is I went to visit my parents for the holiday and I got a terrible allergic reaction to God knows what. So instead of having a lovely relaxing weekend I was visiting doctors and hospitals all week. My hands got twice as big and it was painful to even type so I decided to stay away from the computer for a while. I'm feeling a lot better now and although I cannot leave the house I will be back blogging and catching up with your lovely blogs from tomorrow.

I hope your holiday was much better than mine and I cannot wait to see photos and read your stories!

p.s. I managed to take a few photos of my mom's garden and the lovely table setting she made, so stay tuned this week.
